200 flies, which have been bred for their inability to fly, are trapped, because of a glue border, in the bottom of an open glass cube. For the flies the only way to freedom is to remutate. Introduction of a “normal” fly could allow, by way of reproduction, a second generation the luck to get free.
The cylinder is surrounded by a big soft pedestal, where the audience can rest and watch the insects.

We are invited to see something that is usually hidden. Strong lighting from the opposite building shines down and through the window, and illuminates the installation and the audience.
The audience lying on the pillow and observing the flies, are being observed and discovered themselves.

The work shows the power of mutation and the way human use it to control nature.

Is a fly still a fly, when it is not able to fly?
